Eric Clapton playing his "Giffin Strat" This is one of two
Custom 'Strat' style guitars built by Giffin Guitars for Eric Clapton's 1985 World Tour. Both were exact copies of "Blackie" except for
the color, (one was made blue, the
other green.) The picture shows Eric Clapton playing the blue Giffin
'Strat." The guitar was sold at the Clapton Guitar Auction that took place in
Los Angeles in July '99. (It was auctioned off at that time for $42,000) (The guitar is shown for general interest only; I am no longer doing Fender copies of any kind) |
(Here's an old picture of a rather younger me (still got hair..) with "Blackie" which was loaned to me under 'pain of death' in order to copy the exact specifications to make the blue and green Giffin 'Strats.' | |

Peter Frampton with a Les Paul Custom 3 pickup built by me at the Gibson Custom Shop around '89 or '90. This guitar was a replica of his original 3 pickup Custom. |

Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics holding the Live
Aid Guitar. I was commissioned to build this guitar by the Live Aid
organizers as a one of a kind promotional item. It was later purchased by the Hard
Rock Cafe, and the last I've heard is that it's now on display in
Philadelphia, U.S.

Here is a credit page from the Stone's '82 tour. I did a lot of work on a lot of guitars for this tour. I spent many hours sitting at the end of a large rehearsal room surrounded by ailing guitars while the Stones rehearsed at the other end of the room. It was a very interesting experience....! |
