Here is the beginning of my sorting
out of wood for guitar tops. I've simplified my grading system
as I believe that the multiple A grading is a bit confusing and very
subjective. (It used to run from A to triple A 'back in the old
days', but now I see as many as six A's, so obviously inflation has
taken hold...) S will be my
standard grade which is included in the 'base price' for a custom
guitar. UG will be my
first level of upgraded tops, and UG+
will stand for anything above that. A lot of the
material that I have here has a lot of mineral coloring, spalting
and very bizarre grain patterns. I love all kinds of unusual
and live-looking Maple in all shades from white through to dark tan, so you'll find a
fair selection of every color here eventually, as time permits. For those
of you who do prefer more traditional looking Maple,
you'll find a good selection here as well. Please check back,
as I'll be putting in more pieces of wood as I sort them out.
