From: "KL"

Roger, Picked
it up after work today… First
impressions: It
sings; it screams; it squeals; it barks like a dog! Just
what I was after. Thanks for making me a great guitar.
It’s beautiful too! Lovely work. I really
like the neck. It makes my other electrics feel
effeminate.
You’ve
managed to voice it so that the P90’s are quite balanced
and well behaved at low volume but nice and nasty turned
up. (I have a PRS Custom 22 Soapbar with 3 P90’s too.
It’s pretty cool in distortion land but kind of harsh
and uneven at low volume, I find. My PRS Soapbar is now
destined for eBay.)
The
guitar has its own sound, I think. The effect of the
hollowed body is very subtle; I can hear it if I first
play un-amplified and then plug in. I can’t say that I
can hear the difference that the Redwood top makes over
Maple; it might be more or less countered by the Maple
body. The sustain is good. I’m also
glad we went with the “out of phase” switch—believe it
or not, with the tone turned way down, through my
Allessandro Black n’ Tan amp with some sweet
even-ordered power amp harmonics happening through
KT66s, it gives a very nice and useful “growly” tone. (I
know you probably wondered why I would want of out
phase.) By the
way, what kind of P90’s did you use? I like them. Visually
I think the guitar is also a success. The burled Redwood
and the blistered Maple contrast nicely and are very
rich without seeming (at least to me) too busy. I’m glad
we went with natural colour. The Maple knobs are
attractive against the Redwood and are echoed to good
effect with the truss rod cover. I like the look of the
binding around the head and neck too. The Rosewood was a
good choice for the back plate and heel cap. What’s the
darker laminate in the neck, Mahogany? By for
now, and thanks again Roger,
Kirk
